Who We Are

We’re Cooper and Jason — partners in life, pickleball, and Come Stay.

Before launching Come Stay, we spent the last decade building our careers as business attorneys. Over time, burnout crept in, and we realized we needed to leave the law behind and build something that felt more aligned with how we wanted to live, travel, and spend our time — together.

Travel has always been an important part of our relationship. Our first international trip together took us through Chile and Torres del Paine. We later spent five consecutive months traveling across eight countries throughout Europe.

In 2020, the way we traveled shifted. Adopting our first dog, Winston, meant trading flights for road trips. After spending significant time in short-term rentals, we noticed a gap between the kinds of places we were looking for and what was actually available — so we decided to start creating those spaces ourselves.

What Shapes Our Spaces

We’re drawn to wild, natural spaces with a great meal, bakery, and craft beer within reach.

We put care into the details: the ones you notice immediately and the ones that reveal themselves over time. We spend meaningful time in each space, refining the experience to create a deeper sense of calm, connection, and ease.

Our spaces are also designed with dogs in mind because we don’t believe the best trips should come at the expense of leaving the dogs behind.

We care deeply about how our spaces feel, but also about the impact they have. Creating spaces that feel good to stay in — while leaving the places around them no worse off for it — is part of that ethos.

Every Come Stay property is created by both of us — from the design decisions to the guest experience itself. We’re not a management company, and we believe the human element is what makes a stay feel personal, memorable, and worth returning to.

What Drew Us Here

La Mer’s location stood out immediately. Set at the end of a quiet dead-end street, it feels calm and removed, with ocean views and the sound of waves always in the background. Yet it’s still only a short drive or bike ride into town — and about 30 minutes from Astoria.

It’s a balance that’s surprisingly hard to find: quiet and nature without feeling isolated. Long Beach offers wild coastline, good coffee and restaurants, local watering holes, and endless places to wander (with or without the dogs).

With the 8.5-mile Discovery Trail just outside the door and miles of open beach nearby, this stretch of coast felt immediately aligned with the kind of experience we wanted Come Stay to create.

The Experience of La Mer

La Mer was designed for how we like to travel and how we want to feel when we do. The outdoor spa is a central part of the experience — a place to settle into a slower rhythm. Mornings might start with the dry heat of the sauna or a cold plunge after a run on the Discovery Trail, and evenings might end in the hot tub under the stars.

Just as important is how La Mer sits in its surroundings. It feels open to the landscape, with the ocean always present, yet tucked away enough to feel quiet and private.

Inside, we’ve focused on the details so La Mer feels as comfortable and well-equipped as your own home — if not more so. And for those traveling with dogs, the fenced yard, nearby beach access, and space to run were part of the plan from the beginning.
